My Paul Klee sweater!

My Paul Klee sweater!

If you know me, you know I love tweaking my sweaters to get just the fit I want—and my Paul Klee by Midori Hirose was no exception! I wanted to share some of the main modifications I made to customize this beautiful knit for my body and style:

When planning my Paul Klee sweater, I wanted to keep the palette cohesive, so I repeated the main color every other row—and I love the effect! I chose some of my favorite pinks and yellows in the Lix collection and played around with swatches until the combination felt just right. I’m always a bit cautious with circular yoke sweaters, as they don’t flatter every body shape. That’s why I was so thrilled to see that Midori included raglan shaping after the colorwork for a more tailored fit. I also decided to stop the colorwork a little early to avoid drawing attention to the widest part of my chest—a small adjustment that made a big difference in the overall silhouette. For my size, the original pattern called for 11 bands of colorwork, but I stopped at 9 for a better fit.

I also made a few of my usual tweaks: I increased the sleeve decrease rate and cropped both the sleeves and the body for a more modern look. What I really appreciated was how adaptable the pattern is—Midori’s attention to detail makes it a joy to customize, whether you’re a seasoned sweater knitter or trying colorwork for the first time. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to cast on, this is it—grab some of your favorite colors and start your Paul Klee!
